The Friends of FWSP

Since its inception in 1996, the Friends of Wisconsin State Parks has worked with state park, forest, trail and recreation area Friends Groups to improve state lands experience for the millions of people who visit each year and to ensure that millions more will be able to enjoy Wisconsin’s natural beauty in the future.

FWSP sponsors annual Work Play Earth Day events across the state park system that draw hundreds of volunteers who remove invasive species, clean up campgrounds, plant trees, build benches and picnic tables and help with other essential projects. FWSP educates lawmakers, networks with local Friends groups and Wisconsin citizens on issues that affect WI parks, forests, trails, and recreation areas.

FWSP broadens the awareness of the state park system through information on the FWSP website and in social media, newsletters, contests and volunteer events. FWSP collaborates with local Friends groups to provide park naturalists, educational exhibits and programs, as well as infrastructure and landscaping that enhances the park experience.
