Winter 2018 Newsletter

Patty Loosen
Winter greetings from Friends of Wisconsin State Parks! We have exciting things happening as we move forward into 2018. As the new Executive Director, I can report that we accomplished many things in 2017 and we have a number of new things happening in 2018. Here is what you can expect to see from FWSP this year — Work*Play*Earth Day events around the state at park system properties on April 14, 21, 28 and May 5, FWSP board members providing updates and event information at the Regional Friends meetings hosted by the parks bureau in February and March, the FWSP Incentive Grant program and the Trees & Flowers Grant program for local Friends groups during March and April for summer projects, and FWSP board members attending local Friends groups meetings around the state. We also want Friends members to “SAVE the DATE” for the next Friends Workshop on Saturday, November 10, 2018! We will continue to advocate for the needs of the WI state park system this year and many of our initiatives focus on ways to enhance the state park and trail visitors experience. Watch for a variety of programs to be offered when you visit state park system properties over the summer, as well as improvements around the state park system properties. Many thanks to the local Friends groups, who also work very hard to provide so many things that will make your visit memorable and enjoyable. Please consider joining us in this work by volunteering at a WPED event, joining a local Friends group or supporting our work with a donation on our website (Click here for Donating online) READ MORE…..
