Friends of Wisconsin State Parks Welcomes Michael D. Samsa

p1Mike was born and has lived lifelong in the greater Milwaukee area. He has been happily married to Carol since 1984. Together they have enjoyed the great outdoors; camping, hiking and sightseeing, not only in Wisconsin, but throughout the US, Canada, Mexico, Caribbean, Bahamas and Central America. He and Carol have also busied themselves by volunteering at Richard Bong State Recreation Area (8 years) and the Metropolitan Builders’ Association of Greater Milwaukee (20+ years).
Mike and Carol reside in the Town of Raymond, Racine County, where they have owned their home for more than 25 years. They also own vacation timeshares in Minocqua, WI and Orlando, FL., and a 5th. wheel travel trailer. Presently they have just four pets, two dogs and two cats, all rescues.
Spectator-sports (auto racing, baseball, and football), woodworking, yard work, camping and hiking are Mike’s favorite hobbies. He also likes to tinker with anything mechanical, watch classic TV shows and listen to hard rock music.
Mike earned a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology from the University of Wisconsin – Stout. He is one course short of a certificate in Product Management from the Center for Professional & Executive Development, University of Wisconsin – Madison.
Mike recently retired from MSB, a purveyor of building cost information and cost estimating systems, primarily to the insurance, assessment, appraisal and real estate industries. He had been with them since 1975 (38+ years), at their headquarters located in the Milwaukee area. At the time of his retirement, Mike was assigned to the Business Operations – Industry Services Group, where he served as an Industry Specialist. His primary responsibility was addressing unique and/or problematic issues regarding client needs, and providing feasible solutions that were within the capabilities of the MSB organization. He was also heavily involved in competition intelligence, analytics, product improvement initiatives, new product and prototype development, and product management. Because of his high level of industry experience and insight, he was a valuable and reliable resource to all departments in the company.
