snowshoe2Friends Of Cadiz Springs State Recreation Area is holding a Taste Of Cadiz Springs Snowshoe Walk on Saturday, February 16 beginning at noon at the State Recreation Area (N2241 Cadiz Springs Rd., Browntown, WI). This an alcohol-free family event: a unique opportunity to sample some of Green County’s finest cheese and landjaegers, along with some alcohol-free wines, hot chocolate, hot cider and soft drinks; enjoy the beautiful wooded hills of the state recreation area; and get some winter exercise all at the same time. There will also be desserts and a campfire at the end. Please arrive by 1:00 p.m. because the trail is about 2 miles in length, with tasting stations along the way. Snowshoes are optional: hikers are welcome. If there is no snow we will have a lovely winter walk instead. The registration fee is $10 per person, with kids twelve and under free. A WI State Parks vehicle admission sticker may also be needed. Proceeds from the day will be used to help purchase new playground equipment for the park.

A similar event in February 2012 raised about $1000 for playground equipment for thesnowshoe1 Recreation Area, and attracted people from all over southern Wisconsin. Several people also came from northern Illinois, and some from Iowa and Minnesota. Some comments from last year included: "So fun!" "Great job!" "Very enjoyable; glad we came!"
