It seems that August took forever to get here. Now, it's almost 1/2 way gone! The Friends of Wisconsin State Parks hope that you and family members have gotten out and enjoyed Wisconsin's Parks, Forests and Trails this summer.

The Friends of Wisconsin State Parks calendar has many events coming up and contests with deadlines approaching soon - take a look:

Volunteer Jamboree September 9-11, 2012 All Wisconsin State Park System volunteers are invited to attend this fun, educational and social gathering. Join in the fun with campfires, picnics, and informative discussions while we celebrate the volunteer program. Registration is closing August 17, 2012. More details here...
HERO awards HERO awards are given out to recognize individuals and Friends groups who have been instrumental in contributing time and energy at a state park, forest, or trail. The DNR Land manager award recognizes an outstanding park, forest or trail manager who has done a great job with the DNR property that they manage.  Nominations must be made before August 31, 2012. Photography Contest The Friends of Wisconsin State Parks(FWSP) invites all interested individuals to enter their favorite State Park, Forest, or Trail photos in our fourth annual photography competition.  So far there are over fifty photo entries for the contest. The deadline for all submissions is Friday, August 31, 2012. Additional details here....
2012 GOLD SEAL Award If you are a camper, biker, hunter, hiker, angler, or park visitor, cast your vote for your favorite state park, forest or trail. The winning parks, forests and trails will be honored with a GOLD SEAL AWARD at the Friends of Wisconsin State Parks Awards Banquet in October 2012. Deadline is August 25, 2012.
