Coping with the 2012 Drought*

Southern and central Wisconsin are experiencing a moderate to severe drought. People, our natural resources and our economy are suffering. Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources staff are responding in several ways, including by speeding review of emergency requests to irrigate crops and water livestock from high capacity wells or surface water withdrawals, advising owners whose wells are drying up, providing assistance on wildlife fatalities and advising the public on burning restrictions and algae blooms.
We need your help in coping with the drought! Please follow restrictions on burning, conserve water and report significant fish kills. Together, we can help our neighbors and minimize the damage to our natural resources and economy. (More....)
