Kohler-Andrae = Read to Lead

Featured at Kohler-Andrea State Park
Kick off week four with two very special books at Kohler-Andrea State Park and Read to Lead program. The first of the books is Are You a Dragonfly by Judy Allen.

This book is rated as a 4.6 out of five stars by Amazon.com. The most colorful wings on the pond belong to the nimble dragonfly, but this delicate flying insect didn't start life in the air. Very young children will discover the secrets of metamorphosis as they enjoy this story of the life of a familiar backyard creature. Judy Allen is an award-winning author whose novel Awaiting Developments won the Whitbread Children's Novel Award. Judy Allen and illustrator Tudor Humphries created Kingfisher's award-winning Backyard Books series and many other successful books, including the Reading Rainbow selections Tiger and Seal.

The second featured book for Kohler-Andrea is Paddle-to-the-Sea by Holling C. Holling. This is a five star rated book for grades four and up. A young Indian boy carves a little canoe with a figure inside and names him Paddle-to-the-Sea. Paddle's journey, in text and pictures, through the Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean provides an excellent geographic and historical picture of the region.
